Your Man is Dead

Here's a new recording of Your Man Is Dead.

This was played on Cumbus (sort of a 6 string Turkish deep dish banjo) and Tic Tac box kazoo. If you listen carefully at the start of the kazoo solo, you can hear (bassett hound) Otis Lowe singing along. He actually sang a pretty good counterpoint, but he wasn't close enough to the mic to get most of it on the recording.

nice job, Doc.

I gotta get me one of those cumbuses.

It was my own craving to own a cumbus, and my searching for info about it on the web, that led me to you, and the whole cigar box/cookie tin guitar scene.

Your voice reminds me a little of Blind Owl Wilson.

Thanks.

I got my Cumbus from Lark in the Morning. Their product page is here: http://larkinam.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_BAN002_A_12+String+Guitar+Banjo_E_

Looks like they're pretending it's a banjo now (and they've doubled the price since I bought mine - ouch) but it's really a Cumbus with frets.

I made a wooden tailpiece for mine so I could use nylon strings (the original metal piece cut the strings) and changed it from 12 string to 6 while I was at it.
